The Trick to Helping My Pony Relax

October 7, 2022 8:27:08 PM MDT / by Amber Foote

I don’t ride anymore due to an injury, but I spend all my money on horses because it gives me a sense of comfort. My pony Lightning is one of my “therapy” horses. We practice tricks like free lunging, lying down and stepping up stairs. My horses have a healing and calming effect on me.

Not long ago, however, Lightning herself wasn’t feeling very calm. She’d taken to pacing uncontrollably in her stall, making it hard for her to gain and keep weight.

Seeing her so restless and uneasy was hard to watch. It drained my energy as well as hers. I stayed awake at night, wondering how I was going to keep weight on my horse and help her feel better and calm down.

I discovered Redmond Daily Gold Stress Relief at my local feed store. Several things about the product were different. It was made from Redmond’s own natural clay, had lots of minerals, and a bunch of other benefits I wasn’t reading on other probiotics labels. I went with Daily Gold because it helped with stress and digestive support—a win-win!

I’d been feeding Daily Gold in a mash for about a week when I noticed improvement in Lightning. First of all, she ate! Then afterwards, she’d have bedding left over and would actually lie down. She didn’t lope circles or pace her paddock all night long. Instead, she’d eat and occasionally take a circle around her stall.

Lightning is now relaxed and back to the pony she was before. She walks up to me when I’m in her paddock and puts her nose in my face—with her little ears alert and forward for once! She’s gaining and.keeping weight, and happiness and health are looking hopeful again.
