My 22-year-old mare Skippy was leased out to Wisconsin for seven months, and when she came back home to Indiana, I was alarmed to discover she wasn't drinking much. In fact, her water consumption wasn’t more than a half gallon of water a day—far below the amount she needed.

My husband’s 19-year-old roping horse Trigger is quite a special horse. He’ll do anything and everything for our family. We have a 3-year-old daughter and 4-year-old son, and Trigger loves them both. My son can lead Trigger around at any speed, in any direction, and he’ll follow like a puppy dog. My husband can rope steers on Trigger, then pick up both kids and ride triple together.

When you feed expensive supplements to your horses, you want to believe they work. My mare Odette has a super sensitive stomach. This means every year when the seasons change, my horse usually goes through a bout of diarrhea. This always makes me worry! My calm and collected mare, Biscuit, also known as B, became a wild child the day I moved her to a new barn. Her forage consumption changed, she was turned out with more horses than she was used to—and that turned her into a different horse. She’d throw fits, had a hard time focusing, and overall wasn’t happy.

Scooter Went From Stressed to Running His Best

My horse Scooter is a worrier; he stresses over every little thing. When we attend barrel races, he constantly paces and bellers at the trailer—and he has major separation anxiety whenever I get out of his sight. He’s spoiled, I know!
